The efforts of the industrialists throughout the country—large and small, and even micro-entrepreneurs—have given birth to FAIGA – The Argentinean Federation of Graphic Industry and Related Fields. Members of part of the sector chambers signed the original document on the 13th of May of 1953. Subsequently, other organizations joined along and enhanced the power of representation for the company to negotiate with the State, the unions, and other national and international organizations. That is to say, FAIGA is a second tier organization that represents and protects the interests of the graphic sector whenever it is necessary.
The business organizational activity is comprehensive and diverse. Although FAIGA´s main concern is corporative representation, the rest of the services it offers are no less important. Firstly, we may highlight the assistance to the companies related through their respective chambers. They receive a specialized consultancy service as well as updates on all the fields of interest. We stimulate and encourage training within all the areas: management, administrative and technical. We leverage business expansion as a means for opening windows of opportunity; a case in point would be the chain of productive value. FAIGA is one of the links of this chain, along with associations that represent the industries of cellulose and paper. Summarizing, FAIGA is available wherever the graphic industry needs from it.
In order to maximize its mission, FAIGA participates in important national and international organizations through the representation of its managers, who hold top positions in such organizations:
UIA – Argentine Industrial Union ( Unión Industrial Argentina ): graphic entrepreneur Juan Carlos Sacco is the secretary of the Executive Committee, and other colleagues work in different commissions within the organization.
Foundation “El Libro”: entrepreneurs Rodolfo Marchese and José Pérez Carmona act as consultants for the group that manages the biggest cultural event in the country: the renowned “Book Fair” of Buenos Aires .
ADEPA – Argentine Association of Press Enterprises: the Federation participates through the publication ARGENTINA GRÁFICA CROMÁTICA, represented by Eng. Jaime Lewin.
CONLATINGRAF – Latin-American Confederation of Graphic Industry: founding member of the major institution representing the sector in the continent. FAIGA will assume the presidency of this 37 year old institution, during the period running from 2004 to 2006, by the representation of Director Juan Carlos Sacco.
We would like to highlight the Federation's sponsoring of the GUTENBERG FOUNDATION. Economic support and organization from the management department have led the institution to be considered one of the best in training human resources for the graphic industry around the world.
Throughout its extensive track record, FAIGA has organized numerous national and international congresses for the sector, plus other relevant activities. By a special request of the main graphic providers, FAIGA has engaged in assembling ARGENTINA GRÁFICA – an international exhibition for the graphic industry and its suppliers. After the success of the first three shows, the fourth issue of Argentina Gráfica is being set up to take place in October of 2010.
Today, with a modernized structure, FAIGA is composed by UGAR – Argentinean Regional Graphic Union, which concentrates the activity of all the provincial organizations, and UGAS – Argentinean Sector Graphic Union, which groups chambers according to their specialization within the industry. The institutional office is located at: Ramón L. Falcón 1657 / 59 City of Buenos Aires.
